Giving

Some of you have asked how to help keep this going. It is a kind question, and it deserves a plainer answer than you usually get when you ask a website that.

We are preparing a way to give. It is not open yet, and there is nothing on this page that takes money from you. When it opens it will be here, small and plain, and it will pay for what the site costs to run, which is not much and is never going to be more than that.

Now the part that matters more, and it will not change on the day the giving opens. Nothing here is owed. Nothing here is sold. The readings, the prayers, the order of the table, the whole of it is yours already, and it stays yours whether you give something every month for the rest of your life or never give anything at all and never think about this page again.

A household that gives nothing is as welcome at this table as one that gives every month. That is not good manners. What was handed to us free we hand on free.

Come with empty hands. That is how most of us came.
